La escritora Pilar V�lez nos presenta en El expreso del sol unas memorias noveladas de gran impacto. Con un lenguaje claro y po�tico toma la mano del lector y no lo suelta hasta el final. Caminamos la larga y dolorosa trayectoria del personaje de Corintia. Vemos la injusticia, la violencia, la destrucci�n de la familia y del pa�s desde el punto de vista impotente de una ni�a y la perspectiva de una adulta que eval�a y se reconcilia con el pasado. Con una prosa cautivante V�lez le proporciona al lector entrada a la vida y las circunstancias de los desplazados en Colombia. Le permite as� al lector experimentar la atm�sfera de horror e incertidumbre que de una manera u otra han conocido los Latinoamericanos y Caribe�os. En su propuesta, V�lez logra una reconciliaci�n con el pasado necesaria para forjar la persona que se propone ser. Es un libro verdaderamente impactante que nos lleva de punto ...

Es un libro verdaderamente impactante que nos lleva de punto a punto de un pasado lleno de violencia, memorias de conflicto, de dolor, y aun de humor y dulzura. Saliendo de un pa�s de historia sangrienta, vemos como la protagonista Corintia nos conduce en el tren de su vida, y logra superar su pasado y utilizar las enormes dificultades de su trayecto para crear una nueva abundante vida intelectual en el exterior. Al haber crecido tambi�n en Colombia, encuentro que este libro da expresi�n a muchos pensamientos suprimidos y memorias que compartimos todos quienes salimos de una ni�ez de violencia, guerra y desplazo. Es un estupendo libro que nos hace reflexionar sobre nuestras vidas y las vidas de todos los desplazados quienes vemos a diario en las noticias mundiales.

Sin palabras y perdida en un torbellino de emociones me he quedado con la ultima pagina de este maravilloso libro, que me mantuvo intrigada desde la primer a la ultima hoja. Y reh�n de mi lectura desde Requiem hasta Estaci�n del Sol
Pocos libros llegan tan hondo y muchos menos llegan a dejarnos en un silencio de largos pensamientos despu�s de terminados. Tal vez por que conozco personalmente a la escritora, tal vez porque conocerle la cara a la pobreza deja marcas que no se borran y uno aprende a contar solo con uno mismo porque no hay nada mas.
Habra muchos comentarios literarios acerca de este libro, que exaltaran la prosa, el aspecto literario, el lenguaje pero lejos de ser una experta del tema no podr�a mas que recomendar una y otra vez la lectura de esta maravillosa obra.
Para aquellos que nunca tuvieron la desdicha de ser pobres El expreso del sol es una ilustraci�n justa y real de su violencia
Para aquellos que han nacido sumidos en ella, para que sepan que s� es posible desafiar las probabilidades y retar al destino. Tal vez este libro sea un grito de coraje para los que se animen.
Para aquellos que juzgan y generalizan, les servir� para entender que detr�s de cada persona hay una historia que a veces hasta es dif�cil de imaginar.
Y las clases pol�ticas tal ves con estos relatos entiendan que dentro de la pobreza no hay derecha, ni izquierda, ni liberales, ni conservadores sino hambre y violencia.

This review is from the first edition of: The Memory Jogger II: A Pocket Guide of Tools for Continuous Improvement and Effective Planning
This little book omits all the BS and jargon of textbooks and compresses the actual TOOLS for planning, process improvement, and quality control into just the information that you need to select and implement the appropriate management tools. Keep it in a desk drawer where it's handy to use, instead of on a bookshelf! I bought it for a class (in Project Management), but I USE it at work!
It is NOT a book that will give you all the theory behind the methods, nor the history of how they were developed and have evolved. It SIMPLY (and that's the beauty of it) describes when, why, and how to use the variety of tools, and gives very helpful examples showing them in action.
This ... book is worth more to me than most of my $100 textbooks combined - and it's one I'll keep and not resell. --By MagicSkip (Marriottsville, MD)

An Excellent How to Do It Right Now Continuous Improvement Guide!!!!

Let me tell you what the Memnory Jogger 2 is not. It is not a theoretical guide. It is not a teaching tool. It is a how to make a process improvement right now guide. Earlier I wrote a review of the Problem Solving Memory Jogger 2 and mentioned that both of these books need to be purchased at the same time. The Problem Solving Memory Jogger 2nd EditionHere is how it works: The Problem Solving Memory Jogger gives you a process to solve problems which are defined as "...a gap between the current performance level of a process, product or service and the desired performance level..." and the tools to solve those problems. The Memory Jogger 2 gives you a deep dive on the specific problem solving tools.

I gave a copy of each of these books to everyone on my team. When we had meetings to solve various problems we used the books. When I say used the books I mean I would say things like "we need to do a cause and effect matrix everyone turn to page...". Doing this allowed me to close the skill gap between the people on my teams who were six sigma trained or certified.

Who should buy these books right now: Anyone that has a gap to close (don't we all have that); Suppliers to Corporate America whose performance is being measured by a scorecard and a deficiency was identified; Leaders who have a gap in their strategic plan; People who are working with total quality management people who are just horrible at explaining things etc. I hate to admit in some times quality professionals love talking about their tools more than they do in simply showing someone how to use the tools to solve problems. These two books solve all of those problems by putting the user - you - in a position of knowledge.

Here is the bottom line: Whatever quality management process you are introduced to like Six Sigma, Plan/Do/Check/Act, Plan/Do/Study/Act, A3, or whatever else it is called they all require mastery of the 14 core tools which are covered in "The Memory Jogger 2" and the plan to use them which is covered in the "The Problem Solving Memory Jogger 2nd Edition.

I have paper versions and Kindle versions so that I am never without them.

Buy them and boldy go fix a process, improve a process or create a brand new process!

Most concise useful improvement tool I've found

As a professor who teaches productivity and quality improvement concepts, I have found this book to be a very useful overview of the primary improvement tools available. It is organized well, explains the purpose of each tool, gives detailed instructions for using each tool, and examples to give you ideas of how to apply the concepts. I require all my students to purchase this book as well as other Memory Jogger products for my classes. If you are involved in Lean, Six Sigma, Healthcare, Project Management, or Leading Teams, you might want to check out their other Memory Jogger books that explain additional useful concepts specifically related to your field of expertise as a supplement to the Memory Jogger 2 - goalqpc's foundational guide. These books are written for practitioners - those who want to learn the concepts and apply them within their work environment, often within a team setting. Lite in content and heavy in tables.

I am interested in designing and installing a DIY solar panel system for our home, so I purchased this book hoping that it would be packed with useful information for realizing such a project. Unfortunately I found it to be rather "lite" (if you have done any type of electrical wiring beforehand) and not quite up to date. 80 whole pages are wasted with "insolation" tables and "sun charts" covering sample locations around the world .. from Alabama to Afghanistan .. an immense waste of space and trees.

Otherwise, it is a well organized basic textbook with many worksheets, examples and diagrams.

To improve the value of this textbook I recommend that the publisher

1) simply includes a link to the "insolation" tables available elsewhere on the Web,

2) incldues additional and current data on the available component alternatives and a means for evaluating these alternatives in the design process, and

3) raises the assumed level of the audience addressed by this textbook.

Too much unnecessary information

As a book writer and a teacher, I was expecting to find step by step instructions on selecting, purchasing and installing pv panels. The book has a lot of charts and graphs that have value only as additional information in an appendix. I am fairly knowledgeable on similar do-it-yourself projects but found this book quite disappointing.

Not a bad book, but it gives itself way too much credit by billing itself as a "Design and Installation Manual". This 315 page book could be condensed into a 50 page useful book entitled "A Basic Introduction to Considerations in Photovoltaic Design and Installation". It's choppy to read, and it has a lot of filler, generalities, and truisms. Expect a lot of this: "The major aspects of installing the photovoltaic array are choosing the most applicable mounting systems and making a proper installation". Some of the electrical theory is questionable. Still, it's the best book I've found, which means there is a great opportunity for a knowledgable PV systems integrator who can write well and put together a comprehensive, well-written text on the subject.

Unless you are deeply interested....

Make no mistake, this is the best and modern introduction in Aeroservoelasticity and the mu framework. However, unless you are deeply interested in the subject and you need comprehensive information, most of the book (I'd say 75% of its content) can be accessed free as the NASA TP-1998-206543 that can be found FREE for download at

[...]

(or go at the NTRS website [...] and search for "206543"). I'm pretty sure the rest of the book can be found in the other NASA reports and papers signed "Brenner".

It's not nice to undermine the authors from cashing royalties, but it's also not nice to ask people to pay for a book that's based on research funded with taxpayer money.

Otherwise the book (and therefore the NASA report) is VERY WELL WRITTEN. But it's for experts.

Great Explanation | Worth Buying

I've been doing a lot of research on this business. I was needed for my project, but had no clue where to start. I've gone through the book and found that this book is helpful to those personality, who wanted to know the basic idea required before starting up a business of Marijuana. Author deeply explained Pros and Cons of the business like how some state of US allowed to do the business of Marijuana exception like (few areas would be allowing or not depend on the locality that you would like to grow your business).This book tells me absolutely everything I needed to know and answered questions that I didn't even know.I recommend this to whomever is actually serious about this business!

Intro to and intro

I read through this "book" in a few minutes. It was basically everything I already knew. The book just tells you to do your research with everything they talk about. I agree that it is like an introduction to an introduction. Not worth spending any money on. Maybe if there were more details such as specific banks, laws and other important information I would have liked this book. Displeased.
