Thorough Explanation of Tax ramifications every Trader must know

This book covers all the essential aspects of your federal tax obligation as a financial trader. Green fully explains the IRS designation of "Trader Status" which once achieved grants the trader several tax advantages and benefits. But achieving Trader Status in the eyes of the IRS is quite difficult to do and very few traders actually do achieve it. So Green also goes into legal ways to enjoy most of the benefits of Trader Status by setting up an entity (e.g. an LLC) and trading through that entity.

Thoroughly researched it answers the big questions that every trader and aspiring trader needs to know to protect his or her business.
The reasons I didn't give it 5 stars are that
1) Green sprinkles acronyms liberally throughout the book and it's a bit difficult to find their meaning.

2) While the book is divided into chapters, the tone of the writing gives it a feel of all the topics running together.

The perfect place to start.

This book is the perfect starting point. As a professional trader I needed a go to resource for tax information. I could have sought the advice of a local CPA but I needed a resource I could go to at anytime. This book provided exactly what I needed. I initially started using the book like an everyday reader. Now I use the book as if it were a desk reference. The latter method worked the best with the former method serving as a form of mental torture. That is not to say the book is horribly written as some have stated. I only used the term mental torture for descriptive purposes. This is a must have for any trader that has the drive to do it oneself as I am sure most if not all of us traders are. If the review sounds too biased, feel free to view all of my reviews. You will see the products which I have written reviews are all across the board. I am in no way affiliated with anyone that pays for positive reviews. The thought of it seems like a waste of time. I would rather be trading making real money.

Excellent book

This book works through a single SpriteKit game over the course of eleven chapters. Thankfully, it is not yet another book teaching you Swift or Xcode—it's all SpriteKit (plus a chapter on Game Center and publishing your game). The book uses Xcode 6.3.2 and Swift 1.2, but I'm using Xcode 6.4 and through the first seven chapters, every bit of the code in the book has compiled without error. The book was also well proof-read—no mangled grammar or text that doesn't match illustrations. Honestly, the only slips I've seen so far have been occasional semi-colons inserted (by habit, no doubt) in code. They don't affect anything.
I realize that the mania today is for games, but I do wish someone would teach animation in service to science and the humanities, like animated models of orbiting planets, or animated text manipulation. This book will do however, by simply substituting its colliding comic characters with colliding astronomical bodies.
It's a pleasure to give this book a high rating—would there were more like it on the market. If the author wanted to write a Swift 2.0 advanced SpriteKit book, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

This book is what I was looking for

I have been working with Objective-C more than ten years and I have been looking for a good book that combines swift syntax an game development, I have looking for many books and I have came across this one and I am amazed.

This book has a very nice tips to create a game with SpriteKit, indeed I found very useful the SpriteKit Scene editor because you can create powerful scenes with few magical touches. Also this book has a very nice chapter about physics, and this is why I am very happy with this book.

This book is a gem for all Objective-C game developers that want to learn swift. It is a 5-start book!!

This is the Swift/SpriteKit book to get

I was looking for a straightforward book that would help me understand Apple's pre-made SpriteKit functions and how to get basic game elements wired up. I've done some game developing for the web with Javascript so I understand WHAT I want to do but Googling and looking Apple's documentation (which still has pages that haven't switched over from Objective-C) proved to be too cumbersome. Normally I prefer learning by making multiple smaller games, as opposed to building on one big one, because I've had some experiences where code changes or errors render the whole thing useless. This book, however, does a great job of building on one game and explaining with quick concise text and through code comments. I really appreciate the author didn't waste my time, like so many Swift books do, by just repeating the same coding basics like variables, loops, and functions that end up taking up a third of the book and don't cover anything new.

He jumps right in and shows you how to actually do stuff! And as others have said I've had almost no issues with changes via the new version of Swift after this written. Also, things I've had to look up online so far have been mostly when I've wanted to make sure I get, but I'm glad he doesn't over-explain every single detail since there are other books that will do that and often times I find books that do tend to miss the mark of guessing what needs more explaining. Also, a big thank you to Stephen for his quick email reply when I had a question about SKNodes vs. SKSpriteNode coordinates. If you have a basic understanding of how to code and just want to start making games as quickly as possible, this short but succinct book is for you.

Almost a Matrix-like download

The key to a book being 'really amazing' can often just be that it is pitched to the exact level the reader needs, and is about something he or she is really interested in. I think both of these things conspire to make me a biased reviewer of this text, but I can say that after just the first chapter I was already putting what I learned to work in an ASP program...yes, not a theoretical compiler project, etc., but a good-old website. There is so much that we do in programming that is compiler-like (and so much we do to interact with the compilers driving our languages) that having a better conceptualization and a solid vocabulary to describe what compiling is about can benefit any programmer.

The writing style is direct, not boring, and is not entirely absent of a little dry wit. But it is not personal. The cover art should not lead you to think this is a 'fun' approach to the subject. It's business.

Can't go wrong if you like this sort of thing. If you're a student just trying to get by somehow, well, at the price I guess you might as well give it a try. Besides, then you can throw in some comment about "the dragon book," and seem really in the know about this 'classic'.

I have read 2 chapters so far and this book is great - explains the gritty details of implementing languages w/o using grad-school level terminology. Plain english and easy to understand. I'll update again when I am further along.

An eminently readable tract that needs to be read and possessed by architects, urban planners, cultural and political mappers, general readers and Bandra elites who contribute practically nothing to its needs of humanitarian and public utility voices, like that of the author.

A good primer on understanding ISIS

This is a good introduction to the leader of ISIS. It is written in conversational English. It will take you very little time to read. When you are finished you will have a grasp of who Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi is and how ISIS came to be. You will know the difference between Al qeada and ISIS and why it matters.

This is not a scholarly work. If you want a deep understanding of Islam or terrorism, this book will leave you hungry. There are better works to read on the subject. None, however, can educate as clearly and concisely as this one.

This book leaves something to be desired

I have been reading this book for a class. I must say that this book is not as detailed as I would like it to be. I am an engineer and my expectation was that when a statement is made details would be provided to backup the statements. And the figures in the book are not easy to understand quickly. There must be a better book out there.
