About the Author
Dr. Travis Stork is a board-certified emergency medicine physician and an Emmy-nominated co-host of the award-winning talk show The Doctors. He graduated magna cum laude from Duke University and earned his M.D. with honors from the University of Virginia, where he was elected into the prestigious honor society of Alpha Omega Alpha for outstanding academic achievement. Born and raised in the Midwest, Dr. Stork is a fervent believer in helping patients feel empowered when it comes to their health. He believes that often, when people come to the E.R., it's already too late. That’s why he takes such pride in teaching people how to avoid preventable illness before it happens. When he's not taping The Doctors in Los Angeles, Dr. Travis divides his time between Tennessee and Colorado.

Very Intelligently Set Up - One of the Best Cookbooks I've read

I've read/reviewed a lot of diet cookbooks in the past and I have to say, this is about as perfect as it gets. A huge range of recipes, all with tips, substitutions, easy to read ingredients, not too cumbersome directions, and great (but not weird or strange) variations of favorites. Clearly, a lot of work has gone into this - from the color photography (nicely grouped together for quick reviewing to choose something to make) to the remarkable versatility and mutability of the recipes. Count me very impressed.
The book breaks down as follows: a quick introduction then Breakfast; Dips, spreads, salsas, and sauces; Soups; Salads; Veggie full sides; Whole grain sides; Mains; The new comfort food, Snacks, Sweet treats. At over 240 pages, there are a lot of different recipes to explore - with a guarantee they will be healthy.
What I appreciated is a very comprehensive view of everything in the book. As if respecting that most people who need a diet book probably eat a lot of packaged food and don't necessarily have a culinary background, tips and preparation accompany nearly every recipe. Toasting nuts, blanching/frying/steaming vegetable choices, making chicken wings crisp, getting creative with chicken salad, and more. Every recipe includes a tip or long list of substitution options. It's a great way for finicky eaters to not feel they can't follow healthy cooking simply because they don't like a certain ingredient (e.g., I'm not fond of avocados or mushrooms).
Each recipe has a bold orange header page, serving size, introduction, ingredients list with orange plus symbols and plenty of paragraph spacing for easy reading, numbered and short paragraph steps, tips in a call out box(such as substitutions, make ahead suggestions, recommendations, tips, suggestions, etc.). Some recipes may have a whole page of recommendations/tips - such as Huevos Rancheros Scramble recipe has an accompanying page with tips on cooking eggs without a skillet and 10 different variations to dress up the eggs). All the recipes feature very large type, making it easy to read while cooking or shopping. The entire book is beautifully laid out.
The accompanying Doctor's Diet book was excellent. This cookbook far exceeded my expectations and clearly a lot of thought and intelligence went into its making. It's better than most non-diet cookbooks I've read. Reviewed from an ARC.

I am really enjoying this book, however, I do wish that the portion/serving sizes were included. An example is the recipe for baked falafel...it just says 'makes 30', but how much is a serving??? Other than that this book is great, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for easy, healthy meals. I am currently following the Dr.'s Diet and have lost 29 pounds in 8 weeks, so not too bad!

I am living proof that changing the way you eat can make you feel better

I was so excited to see this book come about. I have been following the original Doctor's Diet book for a little over 4 weeks. That book includes recipes, but I would like to see a lot more ideas I could use during my weight loss journey. I am living proof that changing the way you eat can make you feel better. I suffer from psoriatic arthritis and after a week of using The Doctor's Diet my pain had disappeared completely. Anyone who suffers from this condition knows it can leave you bed ridden from the severe pain. I, however, did not realize that this book only has recipes to maintain weight you have lost from the previous book. Even though I can not use it currently, I gave it 5 stars because from experience with the first book I know these are great recipes. I feel comfortable making them for my family, knowing they are eating healthy, good, and nutritious recipes. It really is funny how you can trick your mind and taste buds into macaroni and cheese made with cauliflower. I also have to say the recipes do not take a lot of time to make so your not stuck in the kitchen for long periods trying to eat healthy. I have no trouble finding the food needed for the recipes. I would recommend this book too anyone who wants to live a healthier lifestyle eating tasty recipes.
